New Year's Truffles

We spent Christmas and New Years in Florida this year.  It's so nice having family in Florida that we can visit.  We really enjoyed our time with family and friends while we were there, to include our Aunt Lorriane and Uncle Kirk that came in town from CANADA!  They always make it such a point to keep in touch with everyone and plan visits to see us and they are just the sweetest people you will ever meet.  We were thankful to spend the week with them and looking forward to our visit to Vancouver to see them in August.

I wanted to make something for New Years Eve to help my MIL and I decided on these bad boys.  I wanted something quick, easy, delicious and something that did not make much of a mess since I was not in my own kitchen (thanks Nanny for letting me take over yours).

These were a real hit.  In fact when I went out to the fridge to get them to serve, half were already gone!  They can be changed up for all different tastes; peanut butter oreos, peppermint oreos, any kind of topping, dipped in white chocolate instead of regular...the possibilities are endless and they are DIVINE!

Oreo Truffles Recipe
  • 1 (16 ounce) package OREO Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, divided
  • 1 (8 ounce) package Cream Cheese, softened
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted (higher quality works best)
  1. Crush 9 cookies in food processor until finely smashed and set aside. Crush remaining 36 cookies to fine crumbs.  Mix cream cheese with cookies.  Roll the cookies into roughly 30 or so 1-inch balls. (My mother in law did not have a food processor but putting the cookies in a zip lock bag and crushing with with a rolling pin or other object works like magic too).
  2. Dip the balls in chocolate (higher quality chocolate tastes better). Place on wax paper and crumble cookies on top or drizzle white chocolate over top.
  3. Refrigerate until firm.  Store covered in fridge.

Get a glass of milk and ENJOY!!!!!
